- The evidence linking fat intake to obesity and heart disease is weak (see author Taubes, Weston A. Price Foundation, etc.) or better yet read the original research for yourself
- The hypothesis of the low fat chorus is that a high fat diet has to make one fat because fat has over double the calories of carbs and protein
- Ask yourself if that hypothesis makes sense when fat plays a role in making us feel full and a high carb meal can result in a spike in insulin levels
- Also ask yourself if it makes sense given that obesity rates are surging even while fat intake is consistent with previous decades while carbohydrate intake is higher than in previous decades
2. Substitute vegetables for bread, pasta, rice
- We generally do not eat many vegetables and bread and pasta are not nutrient dense. We can maintain a very high-level of nutrition without eating any breads, pasta, rice and thus these calories are unnecessary calories for those of us trying to losing weight
- Vegetables generally have very low carb levels, while being high in fiber and very nutrient dense
3. Limit snacking, especially high-carb snacks
